UI HEALTH + THE NEIGHBORHOOD HOTEL

Fun things happen @ The Neighborhood Hotel!

SPOTLIGHT ON: UI HEALTH AWARD RECIPIENTS’ WEEKEND @ THE [BRAND NEW] NEIGHBORHOOD HOTEL LITTLE ITALY!

The Neighborhood Hotel Little Italy hosted UI Health award recipients and their guests. Everyone enjoyed a few nights at the very fresh hotel & had a blast celebrating and relaxing with their family and friends!

About the Event:

An event like this made sense for the hotel and hospital’s staff given the proximity to/from UI Health. Plus, the Little Italy neighborhood is endlessly exciting with so much to eat and experience! It’s in the middle of downtown Chicago – close to almost everything – with a small, neighborhood-y feel. It’s a place where locals and visitors feel comfort and inspiration to venture out and see what interesting things are, quite literally, taking place around the corner. There is never a shortage of delicious meals to try, cultural happenings or slow and steady walks through charming parks and down quaint side streets.

Location Matters:

The Neighborhood Hotel Little Italy is situated within a half mile from UI Health and Rush Hospital, therefore filling a hole in the world of accommodations near the hospitals.

“Doctors, nurses/travel nurses, medical professionals, patients and their families need a place to stay that’s super close to the hospital(s) but also a space that feels good. We knew that this building [the former National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame] was ideal for our fourth location because it’s an interesting, historic space in a prime location. Little Italy is home to everything that gives the city soul— incredible people, restaurants and culture — all in close proximity to the Illinois Medical District,” says Jonathan Gordon, Founder and CEO of The Neighborhood Hotel. “Our hotel is clean and comforting, filled with thoughtful details.”

Hotel Details/Amenities Include:

-Full kitchens in every suite

-Sferra linens

-Malin + Goetz bath products

-Metric coffee grounds & Moccamaster brewers

-A partnership with Baby’s Away to deliver and assemble any baby gear that’s needed Cozy throw blankets made by The Weaving Mill [a local company that also supports Envision Unlimited — a nonprofit that helps adults with developmental disabilities]. Unique details:

Gibsons seasoning salt in every pantry

-Heinz Ketchup [never Hunts]

-A field guide to the neighborhood with tips from long time locals on each coffee table

-Bocce balls to use on the courts next door.

Back to the ideal location: guests feel the spirit and warmth of a dynamic neighborhood that’s very close to public transportation and within short walking distance to several hospital buildings.

My family stayed at The Neighborhood Hotel and we had a great time! We loved all of the amenities: the kitchen, the in-suite washing machine, the fancy coffee maker – it really felt like home. Our kids (ages 4 and 7) had so much fun exploring the Little Italy neighborhood. We took leisurely walks, explored nearby Greektown and the West Loop — al close by. The leaves were changing colors so it was an especially beautiful time to be in the city. The hotel was also quick walk to the pink line el stop which was really convenient. We’re eager to recommend the hotel to out of town family and can’t wait to come back again soon!

Our buildings have stories ingrained in the walls (in a non-creepy way) - stories that are meant to be told and shared. The Neighborhood Little Italy was formerly the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame which honored the greatest Italian-American athletes, broadcasters, and sports workers to benefit athletics in the United States. Once again, we've fallen for a space outfitted with cool history + architecture. Grateful to all of the hard workers and supporters who are turning another NEIGHBORHOOD HOTEL vision/dream into reality!
