The Neighborhood Hotel Grand Beach and The Neighborhood Hotel New Buffalo are conveniently located amongst nature, towns with some of the best shops and restaurants in the area and excellent wineries, breweries and distilleries!
The following is a list of our favorite breweries that are within 25 minutes of New Buffalo. This is great news for beer fans as the wide variety of breweries that have popped up in such force are a fairly recent development for Southwest Michigan. A few decades ago you couldn’t find a single one, and now here we are with so many excellent options! Most of the breweries are family friendly and FUN. We recommend checking websites before your visit as many places have a rotating schedule of events and concerts, especially in the warmer months!
If you choose not to drive between breweries, Uber might work. Or, if you call a location before you go, they might offer transportation ideas given the time of year, etc..
Book your suite now — you know you’ll want a comfortable place to rest after a day on the brew path! Don’t miss the many vineyards to explore too as so many are next to breweries!
CHEERS to hops and bubbles!
This place is a glorious brewery/restaurant on Flatwater Farm — a 180-acre, certified organic farm which produces lots of goodness for River Saint Joe’s brewery and kitchen. There’s also an awesome beer garden with fire pits, Adirondack chairs, tables and dining tents. Great place for kids to run around too!
Journeyman was the old E.K. Warren Featherbone Factory — a 19th-century corset and buggy whip maker. Today, it’s one of the few certified organic and kosher distilleries in the country, and it’s often recognized by critics worldwide — don’t miss sampling their spirits (rye, whiskey, bourbon, etc) as they’re all delicious. Journeyman uses grain exclusively from local farms which is super cool and neighborly.
Signature cocktails and flights are served throughout the day into the evening between their two bars. They also have a restaurant, event space, guest flat, and an amazing, 18-hole putting green. Check their schedule for festivals and markets throughout the year!
Housed in a 200 year old [former] Methodist church which is beautiful! Here you’ll enjoy great beer and awesome food (like wood fired pizza) inside or in the garden. Great for kids and grown ups!
The beer here is truly delicious! Check out their New Buffalo Pilsner, the hoppy Surf Gardens IPA, and so many other crisp, clean and on point brews.
Here you’ll find great quality, European-style beers made with locally-sourced grain. Seedz believes their beer tastes best slow-poured from the tap (to-go order are not an option), so get ready to chill while you sip.
Greenbush (which opened roughly 10 years ago) was the first brewery near New Buffalo! Check out Brother Benjamin, the 10.1% Imperial IPA or the 9.3% Belgian-style 1825 – enjoy & cheers!
Go here if you love a super solid Dry-Hopped Double IPA and a vast selection of other excellent IPAs and more. Don’t miss their other styles like fruited sours i.e. the strawberry-flavored Shmargs!
Here you’ll find classic, west-coast style IPAs and lots of outdoor space for parents and kids to play! Their 100% Chance of Change — a hazy-fied version of their flagship IPA — is outstanding.
This is a great gathering spot for family and friends – it’s lively and fun with live music and a steady game of bags! Try tasty things like an IPA with lime juice or a tropical IPA with papaya. They even offer a stout that’s aged with coconut and another one with maple and cinnamon. Far out and super tasty!
