THE NEIGHBORHOOD HOTEL & WEVENTURE!

The Neighborhood Hotel was created by people who love to explore! Naturally, we’re very much supportive of a company dedicated to guiding people through our favorite city in a special way. Enter: WeVenture! WeVenture offers unique and authentic day tours throughout Chicago. Tours range from two hour to one day adventures and cover everything from tucked away streets, hidden gems and fascinating sights.

WeVenture makes it possible to step into the lives of locals, find out what makes the city tick while getting acquainted with the food, culture, architecture and traditions of Chicago.

An expert, WeVenture guide provides detailed knowledge while leading a fantastic urban experience.

We asked WeVenture owner, David Millspaugh, a few questions about his standout company!

What are a few ideal tours for NBHD Hotel guests considering the hotel’s prime Lincoln Park and Little Italy locations?

WeVenture runs several daily tours that promise to ignite curiosity while immersing guests in the vibrant Windy City. Explore the city’s architecture, culture, history, and culinary delights with our expert guides!

Picture this: the adventure begins at the iconic Chicago Theater, just a hop away from The Neighborhood Hotel properties. In addition to our daily tours, we offer custom experiences in any neighborhood tailored to your interests! Whether you are looking to learn more about the city’s architecture by boat or train, or eat your way around town, we have it all.

Do you offer tours that are good for kids?

Absolutely! Our experiences are designed to be fun and inclusive. Parents are often surprised to see their kids eagerly engage, asking questions and befriending our guides. Our Movie Tour is a hit with kids of all ages. From Batman to Ferris Bueller, they’ll spot famous film locations as they explore the city.

What’s your background? Why did you launch WeVenture Chicago?

My journey in hospitality unexpectedly led me to launch WeVenture Chicago in 2019. Hosting and bringing people together has always been a strength and passion of mine — and what a joy it has been hosting thousands of travelers as they explore the Windy City.

Over time, we’ve refined our tours to give guests the very best of Chicago, just like they’re walking around town with family. No microphones, no gimmicks, no lectures…but a real experience with famous Chicago bites and stories everywhere you go.

How far in advance do people need to book?

While we’re flexible enough to accommodate last-minute requests, we highly recommend booking at least 24 hours in advance. This ensures that we can tailor your tour to perfection, providing you with the best possible experience.

How long is a typical tour? How many miles walked?

We offer a variety of tour options to suit your preferences. Choose from our 2-hour, 3-hour, or customizable private tours, where we can accommodate your every wish. Whether you prefer to cruise by car, boat, or ride the iconic ‘L’ train, the choice is yours.

Starting with the shortest walking time is our Chicago River by Private Boat Tour. Sit back, relax, and enjoy views of the Chicago River. Coming in with about 2 miles of walking is our Chicago Architecture of The Loop Experience by Train Tour — the ideal choice to see iconic sights yet take it easy.

Feeling adventurous? Our Best of Chicago: Architecture & Highlights City Private Tour allows you to curate a custom experience based on your interests and walk around the city all day if you want. With Chicago’s flat terrain, excellent public transportation, and great walking shoes, the possibilities are endless.

WeVenture is proud to offer ADA-compliant tours, ensuring that everyone can join in the fun. I’ve personally led numerous 5-hour walking tours of Chicago with guests in wheelchairs, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. With recent improvements to the CTA, including elevators and ramps, accessing our stops throughout the city is a breeze.

Now, turn off your computer and experience the city!

About The Neighborhood Hotel

The Neighborhood Hotel was founded in 2020 by Jonathan Gordon — a travel enthusiast who enjoys spaces that inspire, comfort and fuel. Each suite is well equipped for short and longterm stays (i.e. kitchens, laundry, etc.). The Neighborhood Hotel transforms old buildings with compelling history into well outfitted apartment style hotels that honor the old while representing the now. The vibe is fresh and fun with rooms that are stocked to support everyone from the homebody to the adventurer. The hotels provide a basecamp for the explorer and a sanctuary for the traveler who needs to recharge, reset or just chill. The suites are simple and clean, punctuated with accents that bring the right amount of pop. The Neighborhood Hotel has locations in Chicago: Lincoln Park, Little Italy, West Loop (2025 opening) and Southwest Michigan: New Buffalo and Grand Beach.

Our buildings have stories ingrained in the walls (in a non-creepy way) - stories that are meant to be told and shared. The Neighborhood Little Italy was formerly the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame which honored the greatest Italian-American athletes, broadcasters, and sports workers to benefit athletics in the United States. Once again, we've fallen for a space outfitted with cool history + architecture. Grateful to all of the hard workers and supporters who are turning another NEIGHBORHOOD HOTEL vision/dream into reality!
